Hard work and dedication of FNP Oxon praised

Merry Patel, family nurse, FNP Oxfordshire – Exceptional People Award winner

FNP Oxfordshire were in the news twice recently.  Family nurse Merry Patel, won the Exceptional People award, run by her local trust, Oxford Health NHS Foundation, to recognise outstanding effort and achievement.

Nominated for her “inspiringly open mind”, her “unique spirit of compassion and care”, and her “thirst for constant improvement of the care she gives”, Merry acknowledged the solid support of her fellow FNP colleagues:

She said: “The team I work in really is remarkable for being thoughtful, compassionate and caring. It enables all of us to continue to give of ourselves over long hours, across the county. We are privileged to work with young people who strive to be the very best of parents in often very challenging circumstances.”

Congratulations to Merry on winning this award.  Meanwhile, the dedication and hard work of the whole FNP Oxon team was praised in a feature article in the latest issue of the Trust’s magazine, Insight (see pages 11-12 here).

Commenting about Merry’s award and her team being featured in the magazine, Sally Godwin, FNP supervisor said:

“The team are thrilled for Merry and her expertise and wisdom within the team are invaluable. It is great that Merry’s award has helped raise the profile of FNP within the Trust - we are a small service with big plans!  As Merry has said herself, it’s a tribute to the team as a whole that staff are able to thrive and develop within an ethos of life-long learning.”
